Protea Village Community

This little village was demolished in the 1960s, but the community refused to die. Its members still worship at the Church of the Good Shepherd (daughter church of St Saviour’s, a Cross of Nails church), and are awaiting the outcome of their legal claim for land restitution.
I went to their annual service and reunion.

The Sunday after Easter: the procession before the service.

In the Church of the Good Shepherd.

Refreshments after the service.

"We used to live just down the hill..."

"...and that was my kitchen, just over there!"

Tortoises!
